Hi, I’m kayla.
Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.
My path to this work took me from the University of Kentucky to the University of New South Wales in Australia for undergrad, and eventually to Pepperdine University, where I got my Master's in Psychology.
Clinically, I've done my time in some of the most intense corners of mental health care. I've worked at trauma and substance use treatment centers in Malibu, spent time with Exodus Mental Health's outpatient programs, and worked across PHP and IOP settings with teens, adults, and families. I've also spent years in group private practice. All of that gave me a real, hands on understanding of what healing actually takes, not the textbook version, but the messy, human, day to day version.
Here's the thing though: some of what I bring to this work didn't come from a classroom. I've lived some of the same struggles many of my clients bring into session. That's not something I lead with, but it's there, quietly shaping how I show up. With empathy. Without judgment. And with a real, stubborn belief that change is possible, even on the days it doesn't feel like it.
Fair warning, my two Bengal cats occasionally crash sessions. They consider themselves co-therapists.
I'd love to be part of your story. Let's talk soon.
